2025 ANZAC Day Long Weekend in Goulburn

An ANZAC day update from Goulburn Mulwaree Council:

The 2025 ANZAC Day long weekend will be a time for commemoration and entertainment in the Goulburn region, as we look forward to a variety of events including the Tag20 ANZAC Cup, ANZAB Bell-Ringing Festival, and a variety of Community Commemorative Services.

The fast-paced Tag20 ANZAC Cup returns to Carr Confoy Oval on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April. Inspired by the camaraderie of ANZAC heroes, the Cup will feature 18 teams from Australia and New Zealand, including 300+ players and officials from Juniors (under 9 years) to Masters (40+ years). Teams will compete in a best-of-five-test series, making for an exciting and competitive event. The Tag20 Cup is expected to bring a total economic value of approximately $527,000 to the region.

The ANZAB Bell-Ringing Festival, held by the Australian & New Zealand Association of Bellringers (ANZAB), will also take place. This annual event, along with their AGM, will have St Saviour’s Cathedral provide the perfect backdrop. The majestic peal of 12 bells will ring across the city, offering a reminder of the sacrifices made by our ANZAC heroes. Be sure to listen out for the bells ringing over the long weekend!

Various ANZAC Day services will be held throughout the region. In Goulburn, the Dawn Service will begin at 5:30am at the Belmore Park Honour Roll, followed by the Memorial Service at 6:15am at the War Graves, Goulburn General Cemetery. A Gunfire Breakfast will be held at the Goulburn Soldiers Club for those attending the Dawn Service and War Graves. The March will commence at 11am, assembling at the Corner of Auburn and Clinton Streets. The Official Service will take place at 11:45am in Belmore Park.

Bungonia will hold its Official Service at 10am at the Bungonia War Memorial, while Tallong will mark the occasion with an Official Service from 10am at the Tallong War Memorial. The Tarago Dawn Service will begin at 6am at the Tarago War Memorial, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast, and Marulan will host both a Dawn Service at 6am and an Official Service at 11am at the Marulan War Memorial.

The Rocky Hill War Memorial Tower remains closed due to restoration work, however the Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum will open from 10am – 4pm. Additionally, the Mulwaree High School Remembrance Museum will open on Friday 25 April from 12pm – 4pm with a new exhibition titled “The End of World War 2 – The Aftermath” and will be open every Sunday from 2pm – 4pm.

“On behalf of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, I warmly welcome everyone to our region over the ANZAC Day long weekend. It’s a time for both reflection and celebration as we honour the bravery and sacrifice of our ANZAC heroes. I encourage all to join in the commemoration and experience the events, as we pay tribute to those who served and continue to serve our country,” says Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor Nina Dillon.
