The NSW Government has invested $35 million towards repairing sections of the concrete pavement surface on the Hume Highway at Marulan, here’s some info that was recently released by Transport NSW:
Transport for NSW will be replacing the most damaged concrete pavement slabs on the northbound lanes on the Hume Highway at Marulan, 500 metres south of Highland Way, for 2.5 kilometres. Work will improve safety and provide smoother journeys for road users.
Work will be carried out from Monday 5 May to Friday 23 May between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, and between 7am and 3pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.
How will this work affect you? There will be temporary impacts to residents and road users while we carry out this work.
You may notice:
• workers and vehicles
• traffic controllers and signage
• road access changes, lane closures and reduced speed limits
• noise from machinery and equipment.
We will make every effort to minimise our impacts and complete work as quickly as possible. Traffic impacts During work, northbound traffic will be diverted onto southbound lanes under the guidance of traffic control. These arrangements will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until work is complete.
A reduced speed limit of 60 km/h will be in place and road users should allow up to 10 minutes’ additional travel time. Weekend travel times may vary but delays of up to 20 minutes may be experienced.
There will be no access to Highland Way from the Hume Highway for road users travelling northbound. Road users will be detoured via Murrimba Road and should allow up to 20 minutes’ additional travel time, depending on destination. Access to and from Highland Way for road users travelling south will be unaffected. There will be no access to and from Red Hills Road from the Hume Highway for road users travelling northbound.
Light vehicles only will be detoured via Wollumbi Road and Red Hills Road and should allow up to five minutes’ additional travel time. There will be no access to the Hume Highway from Brayton Road. The Hume Highway can be accessed northbound via George Street and Medway Road. Heavy vehicles over five tonne will need to use Brayton Road and George Street to access the Hume Highway.
Over size over mass vehicles (OSOM) wider than 4.5 metres will need to use the designated pullover areas and call ahead to arrange access through the work area. Access for heavy vehicles to and from Gunlake Quarry via Red Hills Road and the Hume Highway will be maintained in both directions at all times under the direction of traffic control.
