Young People of Marulan and Surrounds – WE NEED YOU!

Do you want more interesting things to do in our town? Are you bored? Do you find it hard to get to events in Goulburn? Would you like more opportunities for fun, music, arts, culture, sports or learning new skills?

Since our last post about the newly formed Marulan and District Youth Committee, we’ve decided on a formal name the Marulan and District Youth Action Group – MADYAG – this is a sub-committee of the Marulan and District Progress Association – MADPA. Now we need to hear from our local young people to find out what challenges you have and what you would really like to see happen in our community.

We would like you to get involved and help shape the future here in Marulan and our surrounding areas.

So far the group has discussed:

  • Improving transport options to Goulburn for young people to access various youth oriented programs, opportunities and entertainment.
  • Addressing the various challenges our younger community face.
  • The possibility of offering a ‘Youth Hub’ with access to technology for various workshops, career opportunities/help with writing resumes and a general space to hang out.
  • Running outreach programs through Goulburn Youth Services for both school holiday and general activities, at Marulan Memorial Hall.
  • Sporting upgrades such as bike tracks, a re-vamped basketball court and options of repurposing of the current skate park.

So if you want to be heard, maybe share the problems you face in living in a rural area and to have some support in making things happen, please contact us so we can include you in the group. It’s all about YOU, so why not get yourself involved so you get a say in what happens here?

Parents of the younger community are also welcome to get involved.

MADYAG are planning to create a survey and share it within the community soon, but until we have that ready to go, please email your name, contact details and your parents contact details to us, along with your age, the school you attend, or if you’re no longer at school, that’s cool too, plus any ideas of what changes/opportunities you would like to see happen.

We would love to hear from you (or your parents …)
