Faster, Better Rail Services for Southern Tablelands Communities
Residents travelling between Goulburn, Tarago, Bungendore, Queanbeyan and Canberra are set to benefit from faster, smoother and more reliable train services following a $100 million investment from the Australian, New South Wales and ACT Governments. According to Eden-Monaro MP Kristy McBain, the funding will initially focus on improvements to the Goulburn to Canberra section of the rail corridor, delivering a range of upgrades designed to improve safety, reliability and capacity. The investment includes safer level crossings, track improvements, station and train stabling upgrades, as well as investigations into future express train services between Canberra and Sydney. Ms McBain said the funding would help support the rollout of new regional trains, additional services and long-term planning for future rail improvements across the region. The project is expected to strengthen connections between regional communities and major centres, making travel safer, more efficient and more accessible for residents throughout the Southern Tablelands and Eden-Monaro.
